What to Bring for Your Visit

  • Rubber boots – the taller, the better
  • Comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy
  • Lightweight working gloves
  • Lightweight rain jacket
  • Slippers for indoors
  • Warm pullover and warm socks
  • Plant-based lunch and beverages (if visiting for the day)
  • Fair-share contribution to human food expenses (if staying longer)
  • Fruit and vegetables for the animals (carrots and apples are favorites)

What You Will Be Doing

  • Feeding the animals
  • Mucking out the stables
  • Filling water buckets in the stables and fields
  • Grooming the animals
  • Overall farm maintenance
  • Working on fencing
  • Bringing the animals out to the fields
  • Bringing the animals back to the stables at night
  • Making natural animal pest treatments
  • Collecting fallen fruit for the animals
  • Teaching the animals to trust humans
